Imagine that you are sitting in a room and you are bored. All you have is some paint and paintbrushes around you. What do you do next? Do you paint on the walls? Do you paint on the floor? Would it ever occur to you to use your hands as your canvas and then create amazing things with them that look like sculptures? Well, it definitely crosses many people’s minds. That’s one of the coolest things about artists. Artists can see things that others may not see. Not only do they see things that others cannot, but they can look at things on levels beyond many people’s imaginations.

I found a video that proves just the things that I mentioned above. It is about five minutes of some amazingly impressive hand art that I have ever seen. Some of the painting don’t even look like they are painted onto hands actually. You will notice that the cat just looks like a typical painting until you look more closely. The owl in the video is the same way. At first glance you think it is just a painting, but upon closer inspection you can see that it is clearly art that is painted onto a hand.

Take a look at the video and see just how cool hand art can be.

I am one of those people who consider a lot of things art. I mean come on who is to say what is an is not some type or form of art, right? Right. My favorite art is performance art naturally. I think that people can be right in the middle of a performance piece and they themselves might not even realize it. Because performance art is one of my favorite styles of art, I love to people watch. There is nothing better than sitting in one place for hours and watching what goes down when no one notices that you are watching.

I have this place that I go to once a week usually with a friend or two so I can get my fix in for people watching. This place is quite the dive, but I love it and you would not believe all of the people who come in after work for happy hour. Honestly just watching what goes on I have learned how to be the greatest pickup artist ever. Pickup lines and being a pickup artist takes serious skills, and that is why I consider any man who can throw down a couple of pickup lines to pick up a woman an artist of his trade. Last night my friend and I were cracking up over this one guy who was definitely laying it on thick, and believe it or not he got the girl! It was too funny! So, in honor of our cheesy new friend and our people watching, here is an infographic about being a pickup artist. Hopefully you can either learn something from it or get a chuckle or two.

Have you ever sat down and pondered over the art that is boxing. Using your fists to sport fight is something that takes intense training for a long period of time, and during the fight it takes superior concentration and strength. Boxing is a form of pugilism. Pugilism is an art form that not many can readily master, but those who do become great. The term pugilism actually encompasses all things related to the sport of boxing. The skill that it requires, the training that is endured, and the practice of literally using the fists to fight all embody a true pugilist. There have many pugilists that have walked the earth, and some more great than others. Here’s a look into some of the greats.

Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay in the year 1942, and his boxing career all began with a stolen bicycle in the year of 1954. He decided that he was going to take on whoever had stolen his bike, and in a couple of weeks, he did just that for his very first win ever. Aside from his incredible pugilism for, Muhammad Ali was also well known for his loud mouth, which would stir up opponents just enough for a really intense boxing match. His stats prove it all, with 56 wins, 5 loses, and 37 knockout’s, Ali is a pugilist in the highest sense of the art.

Lennox Lewis was born in September of the year 1965. He turned professional in the sport of boxing in the year of 1989. That next year he won the title in Europe, and two years later he won the British Commonwealth Heavyweight title. The first time this amazing pugilist came into the ring with Evander Holyfield it resulted in a draw, but when they re-met in 1999, Lewis was victorious and he became the Heavyweight Champion of the World. He retired in 2004 still holding this elite title. Like Muhammad Ali, Lewis also won the heavyweight championships three different times. Lewis’ career stats show 41 wins, only 2 loses, 1 draw, and 32 knockouts.

Pugilism takes patience and mad skills. It is a very impressive type of performance art, and it can also be quite dangerous.

Have you ever sat and pondered to yourself the thoughts and questions about who is actually an artist? When you think about art do you visualize paintings, sketches, or watercolor prints? Many might even think of photography. But what does it really mean to be an artist, or one who actually practices art? Art is one of those words, in my opinion, that has no clear and precise definition. The definition is so difficult to pinpoint, and really it is subjective depending on who the person is that you are talking with at the moment. Art to me is any way of expressing ideas, beliefs, or views in an individual way that not everyone else can manage to do. Things like writing, acting, and dance are just as much art to me as painting happens to be.

Not everyone in the world is born with a gift for writing, and when a book has the ability to have it’s words reach out of a page and truly “speak” to someone, that is a true art form. Writers work diligently to create works that reflect human ideas and emotions through word. When words can captivate you, then you know that it is something truly rare and incredible. Even books that are guilty pleasures were written with a theme and artistry behind them.

Acting is difficult to do. Like writing and television options, not every person can take on acting and be great at it. When a person can change who they are emotionally and mentally, sometimes even physically to take on a role that is totally different than who they are in reality, that takes a real gift of art. Actors like Christian Bale and Johnny Depp become so encompassed by the characters that they are portraying that you forget who the actual artist is.

Dance is a form of art that reveals emotions through movement. It is a beautiful and poignant. The thing about dance is not just the movement, but the music behind it also. There are many dance performances, though, that are just as emotion evoking without the music because of the sheer beauty of the movements.

An impressive performance artist.

On June 9 in the year 1963, the actor Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky as John Christopher Depp. At the young age of fifteen, Depp quit school with dreams of becoming a rock musician. Depp was the front man in a few different garage bands, but after a trip to California, he got involved in the world of acting. The characters that Johnny Depp has played over the years makes him such an adaptable and gifted performer. Since today is the actor’s birthday, this is a look into the best well-known and amazing Johnny Depp characters. It is through the art of performing that Depp allows us to escape our own reality and get inside the characters with him.

Edward Scissorhands 1990

This film on Direct TV, directed by Tim Burton, was Johnny Depp’s first movie title role. In the movie, Depp was a young man with scissors in place of hands. Edward Scissorhands was a creation of a scientist, however the man who made him died before completing him. Edward was forced to live all by himself until Peg, played by Diane West, took him into her home. Strangely, the character is incredibly docile and gentle, and he falls into love with Kim, Peg’s daughter, after he moves in with her and her family in a normal suburban neighborhood. This movie was the beginning of Johnny Depp’s dark movies, and he still to this day chooses to be a part of films that will add surprise for his fans. And, he also continues to collaborate with Tim Burton, including some films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Secret Window 2004

The movie Secret Window is based on the novel by Stephen King and directed by David Koepp. The main character, Mort Rainey is played by Johnny Depp. Mort is a well-known writer in the mystery genre, and after he goes through some serious and upsetting life changes, he is approached by John Shooter. John Shooter claims that Mort stole one of his ideas for a story, and throughout the movie becomes a violent and scary stalker. The movie is a mystery, and Depp portrays the perfect struggling character.

Pirates of the Caribbean (Four films) 2003, 2006, 2007, 2011

In all four of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which are all directed by Gore Verbinski, Johnny Depp plays the bizarre and whimsical Jack Sparrow, or “Captain” Jack Sparrow, rather. This character that Depp plays is one that really allows the viewers to climb into a different world with Depp. The character of Jack Sparrow is a true free-spirit, and he uses the other characters in the movie to his advantage, and he is quite manipulative, yet you cannot seem to be mad at him. The portrayal of Jack Sparrow even earned Johnny Depp some awards for greatest performances of all time.

No matter what characters Johnny Depp is playing, he has a way of leaving the Johnny Depp out and full-on becoming the role, which makes him an incredible actor.

Happy Birthday, Johnny Depp!

Impressionism began primarily in the country of France at the time of the later 19th century and the early 20th century. Most of the paintings in the Impressionist period were done in and between the years of 1868 and 1885. All of the artists which painted in this manner used very similar methods and tactics to create their works of art. You will find that the primary trait of all Impressionist works is the use of lighting and the colors.

All of the Impressionist painters ignored the styles and techniques that were currently in place for classic art. Not only did they go against that, but also the subjects of the paintings were completely different. These radicals went on to capture in their paintings things like landscapes or scenes from the city. They would also choose to paint everyday, average people, but the way in which it was done created brilliant representations as opposed to the realistic past movements. According to cableinternetbundles.com – The artists of this style of art had some very radical views and opinions, so they were not viewed by other artists as contributers. This was fine by these artists, as they wanted to separate themselves from those of the classical Realist movement. Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, and Pierre-Auguste Renior are some of the more well-known artists of this period, however, it was not until they quit with Impressionist art or died that the public would begin to realize what an amazing contribution to the art world that the Impressionist movement truly was.

Instead of an art style being based on form and structure, Impressionism was the first to be an open representation of the artists’ individual skills. The objects that were created in the works were made by strokes or dots of congruent or distinctly opposite colors causing a uniquely hued resplendence and the contrasts of coloring that you would find caused by reflections of lighting. The outlines in Impressionist works are unclear, thus giving the look and appearance of sparkling and realistic images of the outdoors.

After 1870s, the Impressionist movement became international. The group that followed this style of painting at that time began to slowly trickle away from it as they developed their own unique styles and flares. Following the Impressionists were the Postimpressionist artists which included Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, and Paul Cezanne.
